Adam is kind, intelligent, and deeply loyal to his friends. Asalso Jewish, faces persecution and the struggle to support his family amidst intensifying anti-Jewish laws. He must fight for survival, ultimately escaping, but the ravages of war will soon find his hiding place.

She faces a different set of challenges, including navigating the complexities of her family’s political affiliations and the moral dilemmas they present.
